Location
We are very lucky to be situated in a very quiet, rural position yet only a 5 minute stroll from the centre of the village where you can find our award winning, 17th century village pub, The Red Lion which serves an impressive array of local real ales and delicious home made, proper pub food.
Our idyllic village has houses ranging from moated manors to thatched cottages, a duck pond, three churches, and an excellent village shop. We have no street lights (torches are provided!) affording excellent views of the sky on clear nights.

Hope cottage itself dates back to the 19th century and lies on the site of an old Roman road. With rural views from every window and a flourishing west facing country garden, from which we often see amazing sunsets, the cottage is a welcoming home away from home.
We are ideally located for trips out as we are close to a wealth of National Trust houses and gardens, we are also close to the stunning Cotswolds, Oxford, world famous Henley on Thames, and only an hour or so from London and Bath.
Hope Cottage, tucked away down a country lane in the quirkily named village of Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, Is only 30 minutes from the centre of Oxford by car and less than an hour from London by train.
